The “Energy-Efficient Construction” department at the University of Innsbruck combines traditional building construction with building services engineering (BSE), focusing on energy-efficient building technology and the use of renewable energy. Its teaching and research cover topics such as building physics, thermodynamics, thermofluid dynamics, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), building systems, renewable energy in buildings, thermal building and system simulation, energy concepts for buildings and neighborhoods, acoustics, and ecology.

Role in the project

The main task of the KnowHowHP project is to develop a software-supported planning process complete with a toolbox and to share this knowledge through training materials and train-the-trainer courses. This is primarily carried out as part of Work Package 4 (WP4) and is based on extensive project experience.
