The Vorarlberg Energy Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the expansion of sustainable energy systems. Its focus is on the sensible and efficient use of energy—particularly through the use of renewable sources. This includes not only environmentally friendly construction but also issues such as mobility.

One of the institute’s key missions is to present specialized knowledge in an accessible way and share it with various groups in a targeted manner. It offers a wide range of consulting and coaching services—for individuals, professionals, communities, and other interested parties. These services are complemented by training programs and extensive public outreach efforts.

In addition, the institute supports the use of environmentally friendly building materials and advocates for the introduction and implementation of quality assurance systems. The “Energy-Efficient Construction” department focuses on applied research and pilot projects aimed at optimizing the energy efficiency and environmental performance of new construction and renovation projects.

Role in the project

The Vorarlberg Energy Institute is leading the KnowHowHP project as the consortium leader. Staff from the Construction & Renovation, Education, and Energy Consulting & Building Technology departments are involved. As project lead, the EIV is also responsible for Work Package 1, which covers project management. It coordinates the overall project, ensures the integration of the work packages, and handles communication with CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency) https://cinea.ec.europa.eu. In addition, the EIV is scheduled to contribute to all other work packages, particularly in conducting training sessions in the Vorarlberg region. Thanks to its strong network, the Energy Institute reaches out to its target groups—plumbers, planners, and energy consultants—at the regional level and ensures the dissemination of content there. Furthermore, the EIV shares responsibility for disseminating the content beyond the end of the project.
